Transfer tidbits and more money
By: Steven | June 5th, 2007
Mehdi Mahdavikia has been released from his contract with Hamburg and has stated that he has no interest in coming to Dortmund on a free transfer, according to this report.
The report says that Mahdavikia would prefer to stay within the Bundesliga, but isn’t even considering BVB as an option because he has “had enough problems with Thomas Doll”.
That’s too bad, but it seems as if BVB’s management still have their heart set on FC Basel’s Mladen Petric anyway. Westline is reporting that although Petric coming to Dortmund is very probable, he has yet to sign with the club.
Also, in one of my past postings, I said that BVB would be receiving around €1.38 million. That is incorrect. I assumed that the League Association would split up the money surplus equally amongst the Bundesliga teams, but that is not how they have decided to distribute the wealth. Instead, Dortmund will be getting €4.2million. Awesome!

It seems that they are on a very good way. I recently read a short article that pointed out that they were able to reduce their debt of 53,8 million euros (30.6.2006) by 11,3 to 42,5 million (31.12.2006) and look set to continue this way. Too bad they weren’t able to cash in on Metzelders move to Real.
Anyway, Probably it won’t take long until Newcastle no longer can tear away their transfer targets.;-)
BTW: Where did they waste all the money leading to their debt? I only followed the drama about their near bankruptcy half-heartedly back then. They were trying a bit too hard to challenge Bayern Munich’s dominance?

The management already budgeted in Champions League money for the year but the team didn’t qualify for the CL. That pretty much screwed them over.
