Rozehnal slips through BVB’s fingers

By: Steven | June 6th, 2007

According to Sky Sports, Newcastle United have successfully beat Borussia Dortmund to the signature of Czech international David Rozehnal.

roz2The Paris St. Germain defender appeared to be on his way to Dortmund, but then Sam Allardyce and Newcastle United entered the picture and started to throw their money around. This caused the 26-year old to decide that St. James’ Park is the place for him.

Said Rozehnal’s agent of the deal: “In my opinion, everything is a matter of just hours or days”.

In all honesty though, I’m not too concerned about this. Markus Brzenska, Christian Wörns, and Martin Amedick were always capable replacements for Metzelder. Young Uwe Hunemeier is also capable of filling in when needed. So, really, buying another central defender would be just a waste of money.

Now it’s on to hoping that Mladen Petric signs on with the club.
