BVB facing competition for Rozehnal

By: Steven | June 1st, 2007

rozehnalNewcastle United have joined the race to sign PSG defender David Rozehnal. Rozehnal has been highly coveted by Dortmund, and until now it was assumed that he would be heading to the Rhineland. But with Newcastle now in the race, things are going to be much more difficult.

According to Pavel Zika, Rozehnal’s agent, Newcastle’s newfound interest in the Czech defender will make things extremely hard for Borussia.

“After a meeting between PSG and Borussia representatives it seemed the deal would be done easily, but now it looks that the negotiations will be very tough,” said Zika.

“Also, Newcastle are yet to have their strong say.”

Great. Come on Dortmund, sign this guy and get it over with.

Hmmm, just checked the EPL table. Newcastle won’t play international football as well next season. But with their massive TV deal financial backbone they shouldn’t have a problem to snatch away the player from Dortmund? As sad as it may be.

Yeah, it should be pretty easy for Newcastle to sign Rozehnal. BVB really needs to get into at least the UEFA Cup next season so they can start getting some money. It’s badly needed.
