World’s Most Expensive Goal

By: Steven | May 30th, 2007

I’m sure you’ve all heard the saying “you get what you pay for”. Well, in BVB’s case, that is simply not true. In particular, this statement is false in the case of Nelson Valdez.

valdez_missIn what was supposed to be a “great signing” along with Alex Frei, Valdez failed to do ANYTHING on the field for Dortmund. His one goal, which came against Wolfsburg two weeks from season’s end, ultimately cost Dortmund €4.7million. What a waste.

Dortmund would be much better off selling him to anyone who will take him (anyone? anyone? please?) and using the money to buy a new striker. That being said, this won’t happen because no one would be stupid enough to take him off our hands. Oh well. One can hope.

For a more positive thought, follow the jump.

WE STILL COST SCHALKE THE TITLE!!

That’s pretty bad, but I’ve gotta think the worlds most expensive goal goes to Sheva. It cost Chelsea 30 million GBP to buy and another 5 mil GBP in salary for four premiership goals. That’s roughly 8.75 mil a goal.

Chris: good point.:-) Though I guess it doesn’t hurt Abramowich as much as it does Dortmund who are struggling financially.
