Team salary on the rise; Amoah out?
By: Steven | June 25th, 2007
In the aftermath of multiple summer signings, Dortmund’s team salary has risen to “somewhere between €30 and €31million”, according to Hans Joachim Watzke. Last year, the salary was at €25.5million. That’s quite an increase, if you ask me.
Due to this, BVB are looking to offload Matthew Amoah (although I would have gotten rid of him whether the team’s salary went up or not). According to Westline, FSV Mainz are interested in the Ghanaian striker. The two clubs are reportedly negotiating a €450,000 transfer free for his services. That sounds good to me. Amoah never really hit it off in his time with the club, so I’ll take any money we can get for him at this point.
Westline continues to report that, per Watzke, Dortmund are going to re-open their chase for Piotr Trochowski. A while back, I liked the idea of bringing in Trochowski. But now I’m not so sure. The club have already signed quality players that will be competing for playing time (Petric, Federico, Gordon, Blaszczykowski), and signing Trochowski would seem a little ridiculous. Let’s just close the door on this and move on.
