Seriously, BVB? Red?

By: Steven | June 21st, 2007

away1NEWSFLASH: BVB have released the new away jerseys for this season.

NEWSFLASH: They are … red.

Yes, you read that right. Again straying from the traditional-and-oh-so-good yellow and black, the club have unveiled an away strip that draws its inspiration from the colors of the City of Dortmund’s flag. Hmmm.

To me, the jersey looks a little awkward on Marc Kruska. When I first saw the picture, my initial thought was that it was simply a training jersey. But no. These will be what Dortmund will be sporting away from the cozy confines of the Westfalenstadion.

Don’t get me wrong. I like how the team is trying to play the whole “represent the city” card. I really do. But it’s just going to take a lot of time getting used to seeing Borussia Dortmund playing in dark red.

I hate to see clubs break from tradition. I understand why they do it $$$ but still….
