Season opener vs. Duisburg; Schalke on deck
By: Steven | June 28th, 2007
The Bundesliga fixture list was released today, and Borussia Dortmund will open their 2007/2008 campaign at home against newly-promoted MSV Duisburg. Matchday 2 brings the first Revierderby of the season (away at Schalke), while the return leg at the Westfalenstadion falls on Matchday 22.
Other important matches are as follows: Weeks 5 & 22 (vs. Werder Bremen, @ Werder Bremen), Weeks 11 & 28 (vs. Bayern Munich, @ Bayern Munich), and Weeks 15 & 32 (@ VfB Stuttgart, vs. VfB Stuttgart).
Obviously, our opening match against Duisburg is a winnable one. It’s at home, against the new boys, and it’ll be a great opportunity to make a signal of intent. Getting three points out of that one is crucial.
Week two is absolutely massive. Schalke have a tough game in week one (@ Stuttgart), so if they lose their opening match, we could put them in a serious hole with a win. Let’s get it done, BVB.

Dear Steven;
I am from Egypt and planning a trip with my friends to go watch Schalke vs Dortmund on 18th of August. I am trying to find tickets to buy online, and when I logged on BVB’s website, it is all in German (regarding the tickets) and therefore I dont know what to do. The only thing I found was on a website called worldticketshop.com and the cheapeast ticket cost 140 Euros.
I am sure there is a way to get tickets worth 50 or 60 or even 70 euros, can anyone please tell me how. I am looking for German based English speaking people who knows the Bundesliga inside out.
Thanks and awaiting your fast replies. We are die hard Egyptian Dortmund fans and would love to come and attend the match.
Please Help

Kehl,
According to the English language version of the BVB website, you will see that tickets to Dortmund matches are extremely cheap. However, prices increase by 20% for the matches against Bayern, Werder Bremen, and of course Schalke.
Ticket prices will vary depending on the seat. If I were you, I would try to get tickets on the Sudtribune (if they aren’t already sold out) because you will be on the terraces and the tickets there will be the cheapest. According to this ticketing page, the most expensive ticket in the stadium should cost 66 euros.
I would try contacting the club directly. If that doesn’t work, email dortmund[AT]theoffside.com and I’ll try to point you in the direction of other people willing to help.
Best of luck!
Steven
