I honestly wouldn’t worry too much about it. Roma seems to only go for bargains, and they’ve pulled the same stunt with Toulouse over Jeremy Mathieu over the last two years and previously with Julien Faubert this summer. If they’re really 4m apart I doubt Roma will be keen on making up that difference. Luckily, they’ve been given quite a few bargains this summer.

The one thing I would worry about is Dede’s quote. As he may somewhat force a move to Rome if he really wants it. I’d bet the Roma management are hoping he pulls a Chivu.

His standard playing position is left back, so that does seem awkward that Roma are after him if they are about to buy Francesco Modesto. I guess you could put him elsewhere on the backline (and even in midfield if you were really desperate), but his most natural position is the left side of defense.

As far as character, he’s been great at Dortmund. A fan favorite. I’m not sure if he’d like coming off the bench or not. Does any player?

Anywho, this is actually surprising, because from what I know of him, Dede is predominantly a left-sided player, correct? The worst kept secret in Rome right now is that they are going to be buying up Francesco Modesto for the LB spot, but this looks like maybe they reconsidered? Also the fact that the Roma LB is currently on the Italian NT, which is no small feat, especially in defense.

I don’t know. This is strange. Can he play on the right side at all that you know of? They just picked their 4th highly talented CB, so it’s obvious he won’t fit in there. Is he a good character guy? Someone who won’t mind coming off the pine?
