Let the meltdown begin: BVB blow it

By: Steven | July 10th, 2007

mbKicker is reporting that Borussia Dortmund and Young Boys Bern finished 90 minutes of scoreless soccer, only to see BVB lose 3-1 on penalties. Apparently we missed lots of chances to score, but nothing would hit the back of the net. Diego Klimowicz, Giovanni Federico, and Dede all missed their penalties.

Well, so much for being slightly optimistic about this team. If we can’t beat Young Boys, how do we expect to compete with the top teams in the Bundesliga? It’s also discouraging to see two of our new signings miss their penalties. Just bad stuff all around here.

In an attempt to make myself feel better about this, I am going to blame the poor performance on the continuous rain. Oh, who am I kidding? Dortmund blew it here. Better in the preseason than in the Bundesliga season, though, right?

The next friendly match will be against RSC Anderlecht (who just lost 1-0 to Galatasaray) on Thursday. The result better be more impressive than this.

P.S. The picture is of Miss Borussia. Gotta have something good in this post…

I wouldn’t be so worried. Switzerland will start into their new season in about a week so the Swiss side surely was already at their maximum strength while I bet that Dortmund played the match more or less in between training sessions.
