Jakub Blaszczykowski’s comeback

By: Tucker | April 9th, 2009

In his first match for the BVB since the start of Rückrunde, Polish international Jakub Blaszczykowski’s impact was swift and to the point. While he was unquestionably rusty from a long lay off, his pace and breadth provided the much needed threat that has been lacking for the Schwarzgelben and played its part in the 3-1 defeat of the Berliners.

Humble in his play, he commented that he wasn’t overly satisfied but eager for this weekends match against Köln:

“I was unsure. But after every sprint I felt more confident and the feeling returned that the muscle will be okay,” he said after the game. “It´s getting better and better. But I still need a bit of time to get to my old form again.”

With regards to injuries Sebastian Kehl, Tamás Hajnal and Florian Kringe are all looking doubtful for Jürgen Klopp with Kevin-Prince Boateng in contention after returning to the lineup.
