Offseason Additions
By: Steven | May 28th, 2007So, the end to a roller coaster season for Borussia Dortmund is upon us. At one point, we were looking the drop zone dead in the eye. Luckily, Thomas Doll came aboard and steered the club to safety. While the disappointment of missing the Intertoto Cup spot on the last day is present, I can’t fault the boys for their effort towards the end of the season (especially in the game against Schalke).
Now that the offseason is here, a few things have been going on around BVB. First off, Christoph Metzelder is going to Real Madrid on a free transfer. Dortmund are targeting PSG defender David Rozehnal as his replacement. The club are expected to bid “no more than €4million” for him.
New imports into the Westfalenstadion include 2.Bundesliga leading goalscorer Giovanni Federico, striker Diego Klimowicz (who was bought for around €1million from Wolfsburg), and BVBII player Daniel Gordon.
I’m most hopeful for Federico, who scored 19 goals for newly-promoted Karlsruher SC. However, Klimowicz could prove to be a key addition because he will be able to win balls in the air and draw attention away from Alexander Frei.
Next season will definitely be a fun one!
