Done deal: Petric to Dortmund

By: Steven | June 8th, 2007

petricWell, this is just unbelievable. Borussia Dortmund have successfully bought a player. According to kicker.de, Mladen Petric is now a member of the Schwatzengelben.

As I initially said he would, Petric cost Dortmund €3.5million. He is expected to play as a “hanging striker” instead of a “play maker in the midfield”. Honestly, though, is there a difference?

Petric is more used to playing up top as a pure striker, but I’m hopeful that he can adjust to this new role behind Frei and Klimowicz. If he can, Dortmund’s strike-force could be looking pretty solid.

For some impressive highlights of Petric, follow the jump.

I think Dortmund will have a very promising setup of strikers next season. Petric was voted Player of the Year in the Swiss league. Giovanni Federico could be a late bloomer and was leading goalscorer of the 2. Bundesliga last season.

Yep, I think we could be pretty dangerous up top next season. I’m excited to see Giovanni, Petric, Frei, and Klimowicz all working together. And hopefully Valdez will score more than one goal this season!
