BVB win B1 derby
By: Tucker | April 19th, 2009Die Schwarzgelben won its fourth successive match as they defeated Bochum 2-0 in the B1 derby. With six weeks remaining Jürgen Klopp has his club poised for one the best finishes of the decade and a spot in European football is not out of question.
With no reason to change his starting eleven, BVB went forward against their neighbours with the same lineup as last weeks win against Köln. After an early effort by Bochum did not find the net, BVB poured forward in a attacking storm. After a few close calls and some great work by Bochum’s Stanislav Šesták clearing Tamás Hajnal effort off the line, BVB took the lead at the eleventh minute when Alexander Frei’s corner was headed-in by Patrick Owomoyela from the near post. BVB doubled its lead nine minutes in the half when Nuri Şahin found Paraguayan international Nelson Valdez just outside edge of the box, who then finished with a perfectly placed curling shot to the opposite top corner. With the two goal lead Jürgen Klopp’s men were clamping down the match with few true scoring chances coming to Bochum. After Antar Yahia’s header struck the post in added time the match ended with BVB winning for the first time in Bochum in over a decade.

Doing great right now. It’ll be tough but with a extra spot possibly from the Pokal they could get into Europe. Need a win at home this week

I like that the team realizes the only thing they can control is winning their own games and the rest will need to fall into place. They’re playing with a fire and it has been real exciting to watch. Keep up the good work!

Kuba and Nelson Valdez. Kuba can make people look silly and i’ve only seen hustle from Valdez every single game.
I’ll try to comment more but i do read every single post. Thanks for writing!

jajaja – if you read every post, plus a few of my friends then you are “the” reader – jajaja. j/k but thanks for dropping by as I wonder if anyone reads these.
I agree with you on player choice adding Tamás Hajnal for his vision. You might not seen him until next year but Sebastian Tyrała has a lot of upside and after recovering from some knee problems could fit it next year.

Stunning that there are so few readers yet. Borussia is one of the best clubs in the world! The atmosphere was just fabulous today, once again — with more than 80.000 in the ranks. If we could just make it to the Europa League and Stuttgart, Hertha and Schalke would stop winning…
I think there’s no one like Dede, the heart and soul of this team. Since his return, BVB keeps on winning again. Thrilled by Owomoyela’s development, Hajnal also plays a good season, Kuba will be great once he’s back in the form of the first months of the season. And we finally have 2-3 good CBs again!

I agree Lars completely as it is the best environment I’ve been at. Maybe it has to do with media coverage around the world but I’m not sure.
Looking like the highest point total since the championship -
