Bayern München today!
By: Tucker | February 8th, 2009Although there was no need to extra motivation heading into today’s match against Bayern, following Stuttgart’s 4-2 beating of Leverkusen, Die Schwarzgelben can move even with Bruno Labbadia’s club with a victory. The thoughts of defeating Bayern with its coach who it is best said would prefer in his adopted homeland rather than Germany is enough stoke the fires of all BVB’s supporters. The challenge of returning home from Allianz-Arena with a victory is a a great one, to which Jürgen Klopp said of the need for a fighting spirit:
“It´s like, if we lose this game, nobody will really mind. But that would be a catastrophic approach to the game.”
Adding that success is dependent upon:
“if we play the full 90 minutes with courage and confidence and keep Bayern´s defence busy.
“Like every game, it starts at 0-0.”
On the injury front, there is a bit of confusion as the club has conflicting reports from German to English. I’m assuming the German side is accurate so while Jakub Błaszczykowski won’t be available he has not re-injured himself. Sebastian Kehl, Tinga and Patrick Owomoyela are all questionable for todays match, with Kehl most likely.
Returning to Kuba, described as “semi alles klar”, he has a buildup of scar tissue and will be focusing on elevating his work threshold and is unlikely to return till the Schalke match.
Finally, during the week Bild reporting Sebastian Kehl and the coach had a major argument. It seemed like an article without merit to me however Jürgen Klopp quickly cut off any rumours:
“No, it wasn´t like this. Maybe on the pictures it looks like as if I screamed, but we spoke normally with each other. There was neither dust nor smoke.”
