Injuries stacking up for Dortmund
By: Steven | August 16th, 2007
Just as it appeared as if he was blazing the comeback trail, Alex Frei has been hit with a torn calf muscle that is expected to keep him out an additional three weeks. The earliest the team expects him to be back is the September 14th match against Werder Bremen.
Sebastian Kehl is also in a race against time to be fit for this Saturday’s derby. The knee he had surgery done on (from that injury way back at the start of last season) has swollen up and has kept him out of practice for much of the week. His status for the match against Schalke is listed as doubtful.
Finally, you can add Philipp Degen’s name to the list of those injured. Although there has been no proper diagnosis of his injury, Degen’s knee is the culprit. He also is expected to miss the derby this weekend.

Tough luck! I smell a lopsided Schalke victory in the air.

The only one I’m concerned about is Kehl. Degen sucks anyway and his injury is somewhat welcomed.

Yeah, losing Kehl sucks. But I’m not really disappointed in losing Degen. I really hope we ship him out in the next transfer window and bring someone else in.
