Dortmund land Frankfurt date for Cup

By: Steven | August 14th, 2007

pokalBorussia Dortmund have learned that they will face fellow 1. Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt in the second round of the DFB Cup. Conveniently enough, the match will be played within the home comforts of the Westfalenstadion.

The match marks just the third meeting between the two sides in the Pokal, with Eintracht winning the previous two meetings in 1968/69 and 1978/79. The 68/69 result was a lopsided one as Dortmund were on the losing end of a 6-1 scoreline. The 78/79 result wasn’t quite as bad, but Frankfurt still won out 3-1.

As far as recent league form between the two sides goes, a tie (1-1) and a win for BVB (2-0) were the results from last season.
